Fridays Are For One Question

I love hamburgers. I’m not sure I love them enough to have one of these:
It’s the most expensive hamburger ever:
…a mix of Japanese Wagyu beef infused with 10-herb white truffle butter, seasoned with Salish Alderwood smoked Pacific sea salt, topped with cheddar cheese — hand-formed by the famous cheesemaker James Montgomery in Somerset, England, and cave-aged for 18 months — shaved black truffles, a fried quail egg and served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll, which is topped with a blini, creme fraiche, and Paramout Caviar’s exclusive Kaluga caviar — a beautiful golden caviar with a buttery, nutty taste and large pearls from the Huso Dauricus farm raised in Quzhou, China. The finishing touch to this incredible burger is a solid gold “Fleur de Lis” toothpick encrusted with diamonds and designed by world-renowned jeweler Euphoria New York.
It costs $295.
But I do love a good burger. My question for you today, though, isn’t about a good burger. It’s about the best burger. So tell me:
“Where did you have the best burger of your life?”

I’ll opt for the Red Robin Turkey Burger anytime. 100% truffle and caviar free. 50% reduced guilt.

Burger Up is my reigning champ, though some have told me that The Pharmacy in East Nasty is a worthy contestant.

I think any home-grilled burger is best, especially with home-grown (or farmer’s market) tomato on top. But, I was reminded this week about Bobcat Bites, near Glorieta, NM. Their green chile burger’s pretty good stuff!

1. Home grilled
2. Five Guys
3. Once I had a burger from Don Shula’s Steakhouse at the Westin in Indianapolis. It was incredible!

While Burger Up (lamb burger) is a close 2nd, the Cherry Cricket here has amazing burgers.

The O’Round at Lynagh’s Pub & Grill in Lexington, Ky. Still $6.99, I think.

$295 for a burger is just a ridiculous price any way you slice it. The best burger I ever had may not stand the taste test if compared bite for bite with a bunch of other burger places, but it was a gem of a find in Antananarivo, Madagascar after living for months in the rain forest where the staple food is rice. It was a humongous zebu burger (think: cow…ish
WITH cheese (another non-rain forest product) and I was surrounded by my family who had come to visit me. It was delightful.

There’s a pretty good burger in Amarillo at a hole-in-the-wall called Coyote Bluff. Good stuff when paired with their chili cheese fries!

A place called Buddy’s Burgers in West Chester, Pennsylvania. 2 patties, a fried egg, pepperjack cheese, jalapenos, onions, pickles and voodoo barbecue sauce. Comes with fries and a drink for $6 on Wednesdays.
Man, now I’m hungry.
