Fridays Are For One Question

It’s almost here, friends. A week from tonight our family will be gathered around the TV to watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics.

We’re an Olympic family (or at least, that’s what we’re telling our children. They continue to insist that we are a Dora and Looney Tunes family.) So we’re going to watch a ton of events this year.

That’s the simple question for today on the blog:

“What summer Olympic event are you most excited about watching?”

    TRAMPOLINING

I have quite watching much of the Olympics since they gave up on the idea of amateurism.

I don’t watch much of the opening/closing ceremonies anymore with my kids because they get off into talking about how many condoms were handed out in Olympic village, and other ‘important social issues’. This year we’ll hear the discussion of why the married couple were made to live separately but the gay couples get to room together.

Of course, if the young man from Canyon had made the team (missed by three spots), we’d all be glued to the track and field events for sure.

I really miss the days of watching it with Jim McKay narrating and all the other unmentionable nonsense being left unmentioned. And of course, nothing can ever top the 1980 hockey semi-final game.

Doc – Who is the guy from Canyon? Didn’t hear about this.

Gymnastics. Hooked ever since we lived in ATL during ’96 Olympics and my wife was front and center for Kerri Strug’s vault. Landed on one foot and had to crawl off the mat. She won the Gold!

It’s all in the first two mins…

Every time the olympics roll around, I think, “I don’t really care about the olympics this year. I probably won’t even watch.” Then I get sucked into just about anything that comes on.
Oddly enough, I rarely watch the mainstream sports, like basketball, but prefer the more obscure sports- fencing, indoor volleyball, etc.
Of course, we’ll be beat upside the head with gymnastics.
