What I Learned After 12 Days of Bachelorhood

I’ve been flying solo for almost 2 weeks. Jana, Joshua, Andi, and Christian have been in Texas so that I could do some work on our house, trying to get us closer to moving back in after the flood. And after that time, I have to say:

I’m not cut out for this.

Some guys are, and I have tremendous respect for them. But I’ve grown pretty accustomed to being assaulted by children when I walk in the front door. Nevertheless, here are a few things I’ve learned from these 12 lonely days of bachelorhood:

1. There are only so many hot dogs you can eat until your intestines begin to rebel. And by rebel, I mean rebel.

2. Even though she’s not there, a wife still finds it disgusting when her husband sleeps on a bare mattress because he forgot to put the clothes from the washer into the dryer.

3. Criminal Minds is a pretty good TV show. Some new station called Ion Television shows like 4 episodes a night. See the hot dogs comment above for further elaboration.

4. I’m 31 years old, but going to sleep in a house all by myself creeps me out a little bit.

5. America’s Funniest Home Videos is exceedingly more fun to watch with a 5-year-old.

6. When hot dogs rebel against your intestines, various kinds of cereal can help fill the void in your life.

7. I planned to read a few books. I watched alot of episodes of Criminal Minds. Oops.
